Fox of Red

Fox of Red,
sage of the forest,
wisest of them all.
He’s slick and sly,
passing by in a flurry of color
that brings the forest to life.
He animates birds into motion
and squirrels into flight.

Fox of Red,
guider of autumn,
knower of all.
He’s silent as he moves
Over crunchy fall leaves
that drop from forest trees
beckoning the start
of a new wintery world.

Fox of Red,
child of the trees,
parent of the fall,
may your forest trails
pave the way to another season,
another day of golden leaves
that illuminate
the quiet autumn world
that starts anew
this day.
