Oh, how the moon reflects on quiet nighttime water.
The stars show liquid on the earthly mirror
a celestial beauty unknown to man.
If dreams and nightmares
sang a song together,
they would call into the night
and lament at dawn
that the moon does not last forever.

Oh, how the moon reflects on soft nighttime water.
My fingers fly across the mirror’s surface,
an inch above liquid silver.
In the quiet nighttime space beside the water,
I am floating,
living for the first time
as the stars dance in the sky
far away.
It is only in the embrace of the night
that I can sleep without closing my eyes
and live infinite lifetimes
without aging a day.
Oh, how the moon reflects on nighttime water,
more beautiful than life,
more peaceful than death.
I dip my hand into the water,
watching my skin become covered in stars
and dappled in moonlight
In the quiet nighttime space beside the water,
beneath the moon,
before the stars,
and before the day,
I am finally alive.
